Investiture Ceremony

Everyone starts out with a lit candle. (There are 19 lit candles)

1.    We know our Promise and our Law. We have recited it many times over
the years. We may have questioned its importance in our life and questioned its
value.

2.    But what would the world be like if we each stopped serving God and
ourcountry?(Blow out one candle)

3.    What would the world be like if we each stopped helping people in
need? (Blow out one candle)

4.    What would the world be like if we stopped living by the Girl Scout
Law?  (Blow out one candle)

5.    What would the world be like if we chose to be dishonest and self
serving?  (Blow out one candle)

6.    What would the world be like if we chose to be unfriendly and not
helpful?  (Blow out one candle)

7.    What would the world be like if we chose to be inconsiderate and
didn't care? (Blow out one candle)

8.    What would the world be like if we chose not to be responsible for
what we say and do? (Blow out one candle)

9.    What would the world be like if we chose not to respect ourselves and
others? (Blow out one candle)

10.    What would the world be like if we chose not to respect
authority? (Blow out one candle)

11.    What would the world be like if we did not try to make it a better
place?  (Blow out one candle)

12.    What would the world be like if we weren't a sister to every Girl
Scout?  (Blow out one candle)

13.    What would the world be like if we chose not to take peoples hands in
friendship?  (Blow out one candle)

14.    What would the world be like if we chose not to look forward to good
times?  (Blow out one candle)

15.    What would the world be like if we chose not to help people in
need?  (Blow out one candle)

16.    What would the world be like if we chose not to take care of the
earth?  (Blow out one candle)

17.    What would the world be like if we chose not to thank our parents,
teachers, and leaders who help us grow?  (Blow out one candle)

18.    What would the world be like if we chose not to follow our paths and
choose our futures?  Blow out one candle)

19.    What would the world be like if we chose to ignore the rules and do
whatever we wanted?  (Blow out one candle)

20.    What would the world be like if all I ever thought about was
myself?  (Blow out one candle)

21.    If we choose this path our world becomes very dark. PAUSE


Part 2

Promise and Law. (Relight your candle)\

Scout Law. (Relight your candle)

5.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to be honest and serve
others. (Relight your candle)

6.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to be friendly and
helpful.  (Relight your candle)

7.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to be considerate and
caring.  (Relight your candle)

8.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to be responsible for my
actions and my words.  (Relight your candle)

9.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to respect myself and
others.  (Relight your candle)

10.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to respect
authority.  (Relight your candle)

11.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to make the world a
better place.  (Relight your candle)

12.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to treat every Girl
Scout like a sister.  (Relight your candle)

13.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to take peoples hands
in friendship.  (Relight your candle)

15.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to help people in
need.  (Relight your candle)

16.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to enjoy the earth and
what it offers.  (Relight your candle)

17.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to thank my parents
teachers and leaders for helping me grow.  (Relight your candle)

18.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to follow our paths and
choose my future.  (Relight your candle)

19.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to follow the rules and
laws of my community.  (Relight your candle)

20.    But I,  ___________________ make a commitment to think about others
and not just about my own needs.  (Relight your candle)
